I can’t express how much I appreciate your support I wouldn’t have been able to do Bucky without you. I hope you enjoy Bucky as much as I do.

Update: The Stars on Canvas auction has now closed. Thanks to everyone who supported this event.

For the last three years I have been contributing to Stars on Canvas an amazing event which raises money for cancer sufferers through the Willow Foundation which was setup by Bob Wilson.

Bob Wilson and his wife are two of the most wonderful People you could meet. My family had a great time at the launch of ‘Stars On Canvas.

Bob is one of the good guys – a consummate professional in his footballing days he was always respected by fans and fellow players whether the were aligned his Arsenal team or not. Being a Chelsea fan my idol was Peter ‘The Cat’ Bonetti (ironically) but Bob was still a welcome sight even if his shorts were slung a little too high.

John Hurt and his wife are always on hand at the launch of ‘Stars On Canvas’ they are always willing to take photos and chat to everyone. A real stalwart.

I have met many famous faces, not only from the world of football but many other genres. The first ever launch I went to, ran straight into John Hurt at the front door. I introduced myself to a slightly confused looking Mr Hurt, I was luckily saved by his wife who promptly told him who I was. Needless to say my day was made.

You can bid to own my contribution from this year (see below) here.

About Stars on Canvas

Stars on Canvas is a colourful and imaginative art project created by hundreds of well-known names from the worlds of art, illustration, sport, music and entertainment. Collectively, the canvases can be seen as an exploration of modern culture – how we come to revere a diverse range of stars for their particular talents, skills and personalities, and sometimes simply for their fame.

About The Willow Foundation

Ladies & Gentlemen – we have a winner!

A few days ago Danny challenged the Photoshop geniuses on Twitter to a simple competition – all they had to do was to use their skills to combine two pictures onto a picture of Death In Paradise stuntman Nrinder (wearing one of our cool Bucky T-shirts) and then send their work back to Danny for judging.

The competition was fierce and talented giving Danny a hard time picking the best picture however he finally chose a winner: Garry Vaux of Surrey. Congratulations! For his fantastic efforts Garry has now joined the honoured ranks of being an investor on the Bucky film and has winning picture shown below.

Would there at least be a jar of coffee?

A moment that will always stick in my head from the Bucky shoot was on the very first morning. It had been a fairly frantic process putting all the crew and equipment together and although I knew all that was sorted, I hadn’t had a chance to get a sense of how the rest of the production would work. How would the cast be transported? Would there at least be a jar of coffee?

A thought did cross my mind…

DOP Ed Moore and myself were discussing safety, operating and related aesthetics of shooting out the back of Danny’s Jeep.  The first shots of the day were already ‘in the can’ and so the team swiftly moved onto the next sequence of tracking along with Bucky’s bike.  You think sitting on the back of a Jeep with a camera is simple, but try it with the weighty Steadicam on and it’s a whole different game.

‘The Modfather’

This embarrassing moment has to go down as one of the memorable moments during the ‘BUCKY’ shoot. We were doing some travelling shots of a kid riding his tricycle through the streets. We had a Steadycam operator, James Elias, who was hanging out of the back of a jeep trying very hard not to fall out.

I was driving, Ed Moore the DOP was in the passenger seat. In the back we had Ed Lancaster, our Key Grip along with a couple of crew, plus a load of gear. It was uncomfortable. Steve Keys was driving behind with his daughter who was on ‘Unit Photographer’ duty. We were under the flyover near Portobello in Notting Hill when I pulled over to have a chat with, ‘The Modfather’, Paul Weller Continue reading
